The Brief

For Black History Month, a global event that honors the rich contributions of Black individuals throughout history, we wanted to use our platform to showcase the creatives who are making their mark on various artistic fields. As a black owned company, it’s important for Take More Photos to continue to illuminate the incredible black creatives in our scene and we wanted to use the calendar moment to create engaging and visually striking still and moving imagery around black people.

The Brief

The Idea

For this project, we collaborated with Wingstop to and wanted to highlight some of the creative scene’s best and burgeoning black creatives. For the still and moving imagery, we wanted the art and set design to feel homely, like it could’ve been a home they grew up in or one that they frequently visited because a family member grew up in it. For the moving imagery we wanted to not have surface level conversations and actually dig deep and talk about black history, how their childhoods shaped them into who they are, the black British experience, the creative scene as it pertains to black people and black future and what that looks like for them in life, and in the creative scene. We wanted it to resonate with people outside of the creative sphere, as we were sure that the stories told would be ones that every black person would be able to connect to.

The Result

We enlisted 12 of the creative scenes best and burgeoning black creatives, such as Jonny Kay (Brand Partnerships Director @ Versus), Jess Lawrence (Influencer and Jordan Ambassador), Brenda Juliet (Founder @ MYBLAQBOOK), Lauraine Bailey (Hairstylist), Aniefiok Ekpoudom (Writer and Author) and more to share the important stories that shaped them throughout their careers.
